Since he can remember Dr. Ransom has always been a passionate advocate for animals. This passion and dedication to our four-legged friends led him down the long path towards becoming a veterinarian. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from UC San Diego and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from veterinary school Dr. Ransom served in a number of different roles including as a board member for the non-profit organization Wee Companions Small Animal Adoptions Inc., as a clinical instructor of veterinary medicine, as a senior veterinarian at a local animal shelter, and as a dedicated small animal private practitioner. His primary interests include surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine.
He has travelled extensively through Central and South America providing volunteer veterinary services to underserved communities in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, and Columbia. He has also volunteered with Maui Humane Society in Hawaii, and the Humane Society of the United States Rural Area Veterinary Services in South Dakota providing free services to areas that otherwise wouldn’t have access to veterinary care.
When he isn’t seeing his patients and clients at Katie’s PET DEPOT in La Verne Dr. Ransom enjoys spending time with his fiancé and their four dogs. He is a self-admitted “tech geek” who loves staying current on the cutting edge of technology especially when it can help keep his patients healthy. He also enjoys travelling, editing videos of his experiences, and writing.
